The Canoe Ridge Merlot is a magnificent, Pomerol-style wine, that envelops the senses with gloriously deep, complex notes of purple plums, blackberries, woodsmoke, cedar, black truffles and a hint of road tar. Super-velvety in the mouth, it evokes rich chocolate and fragrant oak wood, wrapped in a comforting blanket of sensuous tannins. With its fine, balancing acidity, this offers fabulous drinking now, and promises much pleasure over several more years. Canoe Ridge Estate is a stunning vineyard that sits on a south-facing, wind-swept slope high above the Columbia River. The vines are planted in soils of flood deposits from more than 10,000 years ago.
