Just to the north of Gevrey Chambertin, Fixin produces wines of comparable style, although they often offer comparative value, since the appellation is much less well-known. The 1.5 hectare 'Les Clos' vineyard is situated in the mid-slope, on the same side of the village as the Premier Crus, and features complex soils, resulting from six geological faults that underlie this tiny area. Vines here were planted as far back as 1933.
