Chteau Beauvillage
This is 25 hectare property on the banks of the Gironde with 3 parcels of vineyard in Couquques, Saint-Christoly de Mdoc and Civrac in the Northern Medoc, above St-Estephe. They have been making wine here since 1925. The soils are a clay -limestone and gravel mix, supporting vines with an average age of 35 years. The blend is 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet, aged in French oak for 12 months. This is a great bottle of modern-styled red Bordeaux from a top vintage, medium-full bodied, loaded with plush, ripe dark fruits overlaying a hint of graphite and a dash of toasty oak, with soft tannins rolling out on the long, satisfying finish. Starting to drink well and with at least another 4 or 5 years of upside potential, this delivers some serious quality for the price
