Laphroaig Triple Wood is matured in three types of casks, including ex-Bourbon barrels made of American oak. We then select the most appropriate spirits from these barrels, which range in age. For a second maturity, these are combined and moved to modest 19th century Quarter Casks. This allows them to have more contact with the wood, imparting spice and cedar notes. Finally, the spirit is transferred to our specifically selected huge European oak Oloroso sherry casks for a final sherry sweetness touch. During this final step, the whisky matures and develops gently, giving it a robust and full-bodied flavour.
