Bonpland
In 1799, the French physician and natural scientist, Aim Bonpland, embarked on an epoch-making journey of discovery through America, together with Alexander von Humboldt, known as the German Columbus. Bonplands notes and discoveries are to thank for the thousands of new plant species and animal genera. Bonpland, who later tended Napoleons imperial gardens and taught as a professor in Argentina, summarised his findings in literary form. His drive for new discoveries in both the old and the new world, makes Aim Bonpland the namesake of a rum that connects the greatest treasures of distant distilleries, with the artistry of old German craftsmanship. Tasting Notes: Complex nose of rancio, dried grapes and fruits, shades of caramel, honey and brandy. Well-structured with an intensely aromatic palate. Notes suggestive of Brazil nuts appear mid-palate. Excellent persistency. Magnificent. The mouth is characterised by its finesse and lovely balance.
