The origins of the Cuvelier familys wine exploits begin in Bordeaux in the early twentieth century with the purchase of Chteau le Crock in St. Estphe in 1903. But, for many, they are best known for their ownership of Chteau Leoville Poyferr, which they bought in 1920. In the 1990s, the family spread their wings as they turned their attention to Mendoza in Argentina, working first with Michel Rolland on his Clos de la Siete project. But, by 1999, they had begun to plant their own vineyards - Cuvelier Los Andes - and produced their first wine under this estate in 2003. Michel Rolland continues to dutifully oversee the winemaking. Spare grapes are usually still sold off to Clos de la Siete. Grape Varieties: 100% Malbec Farming Practices: Practicing Organic and Biodynamic Tasting Notes: Ripe black cherries, blackberries, liqueur de cassis and plum jam flavours with notes of sweet spices, Belgian chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon. It is lush, dense, with glossy tannins, masses of dry extract, penetrating flavours and a very long finish.
